Dundee 1, Dundee United 2, Dens Park, William Hill Premiership, 2nd January 2025

Dundee hosted their city rivals Dundee United at Dens Park. A sell out crowd was inside the ground.

They made two changes to the team that started Sunday’s win at St Mirren. Clark Robertson returned from injury and Luke Graham came back from his loan at Falkirk to take the places of Jordan McGhee and Billy Koumetio in central defence.

United started well and Carson had to make a good early sve. Dundee came back and Robertson had a effort blocked on the line. Seun Adewumi shot wide in the resulting scramble.

Palmer-Houlden missed narrowly from 12 yards after Simon Murray laid the ball off. Adewumi then found Mo Sylla in space to shoot from 18 yards but he hammered his shot straight at Walton.

United had the last chance of the half where Dundee should have been ahead at the break.

United made several changes and it worked as Dundee had to dig in a bit. They kept going and it paid off soon after.

As the game approached the hour mark a Dundee break ended with Palmer-Houlden crossing to the near post and Holt cleared from Murray. A lengthy VAR review established that the defender used his arm. Simon Murray sent Walton the wrong way from the penaltu spot to give the Dark Blues the lead.

United hit back 4 minutes later when they scored to level the game. It swung end to end as both teams went for it.

Late on and Dundee happy to get the draw United scored what proved to be the winner.
