Dundee Und 6, Dundee 2, Tannadice, Ladbrokes Championship, 30-August-19

Dundee made two changes to the team for the Dundee derby, Jamie Ness and Josh Todd came in for Paul McGowan and Finlay Robertson.

Dundee started very well and scored in 6 minutes when after a neat move Danny Johnson finished, but the linesman flag was up. It was very late and the view l got he looked on. The goal was ruled off and it's so unlucky for Dundee.

Soon after Johnson had a great effort save by the United keeper. Soon after McDaid was unlucky with a long range effort which flew just over the bar.

But sometimes the first goal is vital and the hosts went ahead when Butcher headed home it looked a soft on to lose. Dundee came back and soon after the game was level, a great turn from Todd and he was fouled to give Dundee a free kick. Jamie Ness put in a cross in it was headed down for Kane Hemmings to spin round in the six yard box to blast the ball home.

Then on 30 minutes Dundee were playing well, but a disastrous 7 minute spell United scored three times all poor goals, the first and the ball was not cleared and Appere shot home,. Then unluckily for McDaid he slipped and brought down McMullen in the box Shankland scored from the spot. Then Butcher got his second he headed home via the post where Dundee did not have a defender on the post.

Second half and within a minute it was 5-1 when Harkes shot took a big deflection to leave Jack Hamilton helpless. The game well and truly over as a contest. Dundee made changes McGowan and Nelson coming on. They made a difference and Andrew Nelson scored with a tap in from a McGowan cross. But with 6 minutes to go it 6-2 when Smith scored it was another poor goal to lose.

A bit tough on the Dark Blues who played well enough in patches, but in a derby you have to defend better, Dundee will hopefully bounce back. They must now win their next 3 or 4 league game. Which is not easy in this league.
