Ross County 3, Dundee 1, Global Energy Stadium, William Hill Premiership, 22nd February 2024

Dundee made two changes to the team. Ryan Astley and Fin Robertson came in for Aaron Donnelly and Mo Sylla, who were both on the bench.

The home side started on the attack and Jon McCracken saved well to deny them.

Then after just 4 minutes Dundee scored a fine worked goal. Good play from Ziyad Larkeche who passed to Simon Murray, who turned and sent a marvellous curling shot from the corner of the penalty area over keeper Jordan Amissah and into the far top corner.

This should have settled Dundee but Ross County took control of the game and it was no surprize when they levelled after 18 minutes. A long ball was put into the box, and it was headed into the six yard box, it was turned into the net by Phillips.

Shortly afterwards Dundee lost Antonio Portales who limped off and was replaced by Aaron Donnnelly.

Until half time the only shot for Dundee was a free kick fron Fin Robertson. County ran over our midfield and the shape of the team was much needed.

At half time Mo Sylla came on for Clark Robertson, who had a problem with his hamstring. Jordan McGhee moved back from midfield into the defence.

The second half started and County scored twice in two minutes, first they hit the post when Hale should have scored. From the corner Wright was unmarked to overkick the ball home to get their second goal from six yards.

Then a quick break away with the Dundee defence nowhere and Chilvers who had run from the half way line unmarked had a simple tap in to seal the game for the home side.

The Dee formation switched to four at the back with McGhee pushing back into midfield. Seun Adewumi came on for Seb Palmer-Houlden who took a knock. Neither change made any significant difference to the game or unsettled County.

Dundee struggled and only two real chances were create whem Murray was unlucky when he put it wide, and McGhee had a header which he failed to get on target.

County deserved the points and Dundee will need to stick together as the next six games are massive for the club.
