Dundee Sign Ryan Clampin

Dundee have signed Ryan Clampin until the end of the season from Colchester United, Ryan is a left back and will wear No 31 for the club.

Ryan has played over 60 games for Colchester United.

Dundee Sign Barry Maguire

Dundee have signed Barry Maguire on loan from Motherwell, he can play in defence or midfield. Barry will wear No 34 for Dundee. 

He was loan at Queen of the South last season.

Dundee started this game with a young looking side to take on high flying Dunfermline Athletic, in the first half it was end to end with chances falling for both sides.

Dunfermline then forced Harry Sharp into a good save which he turned the shot away for a pars corner, Dundee first chance fell to McMullen but he fired high over the bar.

But soon after it was 1-0 for Dundee a quick break away and Thomas found Paul McMullan who this time fired the ball home for a good goal.

Ten minutes later and it was 1-1 a good cross was headed home by McCann, so 1-1 at half time.

Still the game went from end to end, but Dundee took the lead on the hour a quick corner McMullan found Mulligan and he squared the ball to Fin Robertson who scored with a solid shot.

 Dundee all but sealed the tie with seven minutes remaining when substitutes Cillian Sheridan and Luke McCowan combined. The former flicking on a ball forward and  Luke McCowan scored with a shot from the edge of the box for a fine goal. 

Into stoppage time and Dundee added a forth, Max Anderson this time, again from just outside the box finding the bottom corner.

A couole of minutes later and ExDee Craig Wighton scored a great goal with a stunning finish.

A hard game and all credit to Dunfermline for having a go in this match.

St Mirren 0, Dundee 0, AET St Mirren (3-0 pens), SMiSA Stadium, Scottish Cup 4th Rd, 21th January 2023

Dundee put out a attacking team to face St Mirren in this Scottish Cup tie, with Tyler French, Josh Mulligan and Jordan McGhee in Midfield. Three up front as well so they were going to have a go at the home side.

Dundee were delt a blow when Tyler French was injured and it took six minutes of treatment before he left in a stretcher. Max Anderson was a straight replacement.

St Mirren had two shots on target but was easy for Dundee goal keeper Adam Legzdins. Dundee grew into the game and after good play Mulligan had a shot saved by Carson in the saints goal. 

Max Anderson then had a shot were saved and from the corner Ashcroft headed wide. Dundee lost Cammy Kerr to injury. Lyall Cameron came on to play in midfield with Josh Mulligan shifting to right back.

Cameron almost scored a quick opener with a clever volley from Jordan Marshall’s cross, but Trevor Carson pulled off a great low save.

Second half and Saints had a wee spell but failed to trouble the Dundee defence and Dundee played some nice play but failed to create a cut clear chance.

Cillian Sheridan and Kwame Thomas for Alex Jakubiak, and McMullan to give Dundee more height up front. It was no surprize that the 90 minutes ended 0-0 and forced extra time.

Dundee put on Zak Rudden for Luke McCowan to give Dundee fresh legs, Dundee had a go but the only real chance was after Thomas flicked on Cameron’s free kick, but Carson saved.

Saints hit the post near the end as the game would be settled by Penalties. 

St Mirren went first and Eamonn Brophy’s weak effort was saved by Legzdins. Dundee’s first three penalties were all better efforts, from Rudden, Thomas and Cameron, but Carson pulled off three great saves. O’Hara, Grieve and Kiltie converted – and that was the end of Dundee’s Scottish Cup campaign.

The team all put in a shift today and gave it their best the injury to Tyler and losing Cammy in the first half did not help.

Dundee Sign Kwame Thomas

Dundee have signed Kwame Thomas on loan until the end of the season from Sutton United. The striker started at Derby County. Loan deals at with Notts County and Blackpool followed.

He then moved permanently to Coventry City before spells with Solihull Moors, Doncaster Rovers, Burton Albion and Wrexham. Kwame moved to Sutton United in the summer.

Trip to New Bayview....

Seeing the Dundee game was off last Saturday l went down to New Bayview to watch East Fife v Stenhousemuir the game ended 1-1 which was about fair over the 90 minutes. It was good to see a few people that l known for years ( Stephen Mill, Plum and Grant) and it was aslo good to go for our tea with my brother Dougie and his wife Jo. My two boys Andrew and Alexander were at the game too.

Another ground ticked off for myself l was hoping to see Dundee play East Fife at New Bayview but l have missed the last three due to work. 

Good to finally see the ground and we all had a good time, tickets were easy to get and a decent programme for the game as well. 

Raith Rovers 1, Dundee 1, Starks Park, cinch Championship, 06-January-23

Dundee made two changes to the team to face Raith Rovers at Starks Park, with Tyler French and Shaun Byrne coming in for Ben Williamson and Fin Robertson.

Dundee started slowly and Rovers had a lot of the ball and they looked more dangerous than their visitors. Dundee did have a great chance but Ashcroft failed to do better with a header. 

Still rovers were in control of the midfield mainly, but Paul McMullen should have scored went he had a great chance but put his shot wide of the goal. Then shortly before half time Rovers scored when Connolly got the last touch of a cross to knock the ball home from six yards.

Second half and Dundee made three changes to the team, Alex Jakubiak, Luke McCowan and Cillian Sheridan replaced Shaun Byrne, Zak Rudden and Tyler French. 

It did make a difference to the game as Dundee pushed forward and it was only good defending that denied Dundee. Luke McCowan was unlucky when his shot hit the post and fell into the arms of keeper McDonald.

Dundee forced a few corners but failed to hit the target enought to get a goal, but with twelve minutes to go they levelled the game a good run and cross from Cammy Kerr and his cross was headed home by Jordan McGhee for a fine goal.

Dundee pushed for a winner but the game ended 1-1, which was a fair result as it was a tail of no halves. Dundee will hopefuuly add to their squad which they need to do, with the news that Zack Robinson has returned to Wimbledon.

Dundee 2, Arbroath 4, Dens Park, cinch Championson, 02-January-23

Dundee made one change to the team which won at Ayr United, Fin Robertson replaced Josh Mulligan. Dundee started the game poorly and although they had a goal ruled out for off side. 

But in a space of 5 minutes Arbroath scored twice. They were both poor ones to lose and worse was to fo;;ow when Ben Williamson was sent off for a second yellow card. 

Dundee did try and keep playing football and they missed a few chances before Paul McMullen scored just before half time after he took a pass from Zak Rudden to score a fine goal.

Second half and after Cammy Kerr hit the side netting they got a penalty after a hand ball in the box, up stepped Zak Rudden to score with a fine finish. But in the next minute is was 3-2 Arbroath when they scored again from a cross ball. 

It gave Dundee a mountain to climb and Arbroath sealed the game when they scored again. Ryan Sweeney had a goal chalked off at 3-2 for offside just before the 4th goal. 

Dundee kept going to the end but they well beaten today, hopefully they can bounce back on Friday when they travel to Kirkcaldy to face Raith Rovers. Got my ticket today so will make that game.

Ayr United 0, Dundee 2, Somerset Park, cinch Championship, 23rd December-22

Dundee made several changes Jordan Marshall, Jordan McGhee, Ben Williamson and Josh Mulligan returned to the starting eleven. They replaced Fin Robertson, Joe Grayson and Lyall Cameron, who were substitutes, and Tyler French who missed out through illness.

Dundee started well and forced six corners in the opening 10-15 minutes as they looked to get the early goal, but after 18 minutes Josh Mulligan was shown the red card for a foul. It did not look that bad but rumours of a elbow was used. 

Both teams had chances and Ayr missed one right on half time, Dundee would be happy to get to half time with the score 0-0.

Second half and Rudden had a chance but put his effort wide of the goal, Dundee were playing well and controlling the midfield. After 64 minutes and Ayr got a player sent off. 

This turned the game and it was 4 minutes later Dundee scored good play from Rudden and his pass let Luke McCowan to run into the box and scored across the keeper with a fine finish.

It gave Dundee a big boost as they looked to get the second vital goal, hard working Zak Rudden was replaced by Cillian Sheridan and soon after Dundee got their second goal. Luke McCowan was fouled and he stepped up to scored a wonderful 30 yard free kick.

It sealed the three points and they seen the game out to go top of the league at Christmas time.

Falkirk 0, Dundee 3, Falkirk Stadium, SPFL Trust Trophy, 08-December-22

Dundee made four changes to the team that beat Inverness in the Championship on Saturday. Jordan McGhee, Shaun Byrne and Ben Williamson were unavailable, and Josh Mulligan was on the bench. Fin Robertson, Joe Grayson, Lyall Cameron and Luke McCowan came in as the Dee switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Dundee went close in the opening minute when Rudden's shot clipped the top of the bar, but a few minutes later they went ahead from the penalty spot after great play from Paul McMullan was fouled in the box. Up stepped Zak Rudden to score the keeper got his hands on the power but the powerful shot beat him for a vital goal. 

Dundee settled early and played some nice football and increased their score when a Luke McCowan cross was easily knocked home by Zak Rudden for his second goal.

Dundee were in total control and could have added to the score with three good chances, they made half time okay. Falkirk struggled so far in the game.

Second half and Falkirk made two chamges and they looked a lot better and attacked Dundee in which they defended well enough. Dundee had chances on the break and could haved added goals.

 Josh Mulligan and Max Anderson came off the bench to replace Paul McMullan and Lyall Cameron midway through the second half, bringing fresh energy to the Dee attacks. They were joined by Alex Jakubiak, replacing Zak Rudden who limped off after a heavy tackle.

Dundee finished the game with a third goal after a good move the ball was knocked back to Fin Robertson who curled the ball home for a superb goal.

Both teams had chances and Dundee made two more changes to the team as they ran down the clock.

Dundee made two changes in goal Adam Legzdins replaced Ian Lawlor, who was ruled out by his concussion injury. Tyler French came in at right wing back, replacing Josh Mulligan who moved into an attacking role as Paul McMullan took up a slightly deeper 10 position behind the strikers with Max Anderson named as a substitute.

The opening period of the game was not evenful with both keepers not tested, but six minutes later Dundee took the lead. Ben Williamson made a good run and he fed the ball to Paul McMullan who cut inside and curled the ball home for a superb opening goal of the game. 

Soon after Dundee broke and Rudden's cross came off a defenders and the bar saved Inverness CT, soon after Cammy Kerr went close with a shot. Inverness CT hit back and good defending by Tyler French saved the day when he nipped in to clear.

In the second half Inverness CT came out to attack but failed to trouble Dundee too much, Dundee attacked as well in a more composed mood. 

Fin Robertson, Luke McCowan and Derick Osei came on for Shaun Byrne, Ben Williamson and Zak Rudden. The change gave the Dark Blues some added energy and the Dee always looked more likely to kill the game off in the later stages than conceded an equaliser.

Luke mcCowan came close late on but the kepper saved well from his effort, Dundee saw the game out and earned their first win in the league at a differcult venue. 

Dundee fans were happy today and getting the win was vital as it pushes the club up to second in the table.

Dundee 6, Airdrionians 2, Dens Park, Scottish Cup 3rd Rd, 26th November 2022

Dundee made three changes to the team with Tyler French and Zach Robinson were not fit and Cillian Sheridan was on the bench. Josh Mulligan replaced French at right wing back. Zak Rudden came in for Robinson at centre forward, and Max Anderson replaced Paul McMullan in the hole behind the strikers with McMullan shifting forward to play alongside Rudden.

Airdrie nearly scored first but Ian Lawlor made a fine save, Dundee had a lot of the ball but failed with the final ball or effort on goal. But against the run of play Airdrie did score with a fine worked goal. 

Zak Rudden was unlucky with a good shot which the Airdrie keeper tipped the ball over the bar, as half time was looming Paul McMullan scored a vital goal for the dark blues. He fininished well after picking the ball up in the box.

Second half and Dundee got a bonus when the Airdrie keeper made a mistake and Zak Rudden chipped the ball home for a well taken goal. After this Dundee had three great chances to seal the win, but they missed them and payed the penalty when Airdrie scored again. 

Dundee tried to get the winner in the 90 minutes but failed , Airdrie had a player sent off and that could be a big bonus. 

Ian Lawlor was replaced after he made a good save but hit the post and was injured Adam Legzdins came on for the rest of the game. 

But Dundee took control in extra time and sealed the win with goals from Derick Osei Yaw (2) Fin Robertson and Luke McCowan all were well taken and sent the fans home happy with win.

 It was a good day out on Saturday and a big bonus was meeting Ex Dundee player Alan Lawrence who joined us for a pint after the game.

Dundee 1, Hamilton Accies 0, Dens Park, cinch Championship, 19-November-22

Dundee started with much of the same team which finished last week's game except for Cillian Sheridan who came in for Josh Mulligan who had a slight knock. 

In the first minutes Cammy Kerr went close with a 18 yard shot, Dundee played a lot of football but their final ball let them down. Paul McMullan had a good effort saved well after 25 minutes. The next twenty minutes went down a bit and Accies could have scored right on half time but Ian lawlor pulled off two great saves it was in between a brave header from Ryan Sweeney.

Second half and Zak Rudden replaced Cillian Sheridan who struggled in the first half. Lawlor made another good save as Accies hit Dundee on the break. 

But on 57 minutes Dundee took the lead a great ball put Rudden clear and his cross was finished by Paul McMullan for a well worked goal which they deserved.

Soon after Zach Robinson limped off injured after an hour and Derick Osei replaced him. Dundee were lucky when Accies hit the post with a great shot. Dundee kept playing good football but failed to score again. Fin Robertson replaced Ben Williamson for the last 20 minutes and played fine. 

That's how the game finished and three vital points for the club. Next up it the home game against Airdrie at Dens this Saturday.

Dundee 2, Raith Rovers 0, Dens Park, cinch Championship, 12th November 2022

Dundee made two changes to the team that started in the win at Partick Thistle last week. Max Anderson and Zach Robinson replaced Luke McCowan and Derick Osei. No place for Zak Rudden who was injured. 

Dundee started slowly and Rovers looked the better side in the first 20 minutes, Dundee had to make a change which saw Joe Grayson go down injured and Shaun Byrne came on as sub. 

Dundee just about scored a few minutes later Robinson went down in the box he got up and got a shot in which hit the post it hit the keeper and went along the line hit the other post and then cleared by a rovers defender. 

Minutes later and Max Anderson had to go with a head knock which looked a soar one to take, he was replaced by Ben Williamson in the midfield. soon after Robinson forced a great save from the Rovers keeper, from the corner he again came close but headed over the bar. 

Just before half time McMullan forced another good save from McDonald to deny Dundee a deserved lead.

Second half and on 49 minutes Dundee finally took the lead when the referee pointed to the spot after 

Williamson had a shot blocked by the hand of a Rovers player. Up stepped Zach Robinson to score with ease. Minutes later it should have been 2-0 but after great run and play from Mulligan his cross was missed by McMullan and Robinson. 

A lot of pressure payed off when a corner from McMullan was headed down by Sweeney to Zach Robinson who's shot was well saved but the striker was quick to lash the ball home for the vital second goal.

After this is was all Dundee and really should have added to their score. Mulligan twice, McMullan and Kerr all had a go but either narrowly missed or were foiled by Jamie MacDonald, the overworked Rovers keeper. Robinson should maybe have completed his hat trick when he headed wide from Cammy Kerr’s cross at the end of a beautiful move featuring a defence splitting pass from Williamson.

Dundee finished the game well on top and made three more changes in the last 10 minutes, when  Mulligan, McMullan and Robinson departed for  Lyall Cameron, Derick Osei and Cillian Sheridan to come on.

A well deserved win for the dark blues and sets up next week's game v Hamilton Accies who visit Dens Park.

Andy Penman Fife Dark Blues Day Out At Firhill

 It was a great day on Saturday at Hospitality at Firhill Stadium home of Partick Thistle. The Andy Penman Fife Dark Blues really enjoyed their day. Food and Beer were great and we well served by their staff. It was good to see everyone enjoy themselves. Some photos below of our day.
