Dundee played their first pre-season game at windy Gayfield on Saturday. It was my first game of the season and also my 64th birthday which l enjoyed in the company of my two sons Andrew and Alexander.
Dundee started well and in the opening minutes had chances but failed to take them. But on 16 minutes Charlie Reilly was fouled and Dundee got a penalty. Up stepped Simon Murray but he missed with the Arbroath saved well diving to his right.
Dundee struggled but got to half time with score 0-0, they made 9 changes to the team and started well and scored soon after Drey Wright straight from a corner.
The young Dundee side were in control, and it was no surprize when they scored number two. Wright moved down the right and switched the ball inside to Chespi. The Mexican spotted Tommy McDermott's run and his quiclk pass sent the trialist in to shoot high into the net from 12 yards.
A good work out for the squad and next up it Brechin City at Glebs Park this saturday.
