Dundee made a few changes for the League Cup tie, Lee Ashcroft started for the first time since March. Ben Williamson, Zach Robinson and Lyall Cameron also started. These four replaced Jordan Marshall, Luke McCowan and Zak Rudden, who were injured, and Paul McGowan, who was on the bench.
Dundee had a few early chances Zach Robinson's shot was saved and Cammy Kerr hit the side netting. On the break Falkirk looked good and quick but they failed to create anything in the first half hour. Just after this they went close when Lee Ashcroft was able to clear a cross and it hit the post.
Second half and Dundee started well and looked much better and it was no surprize when they scored a good goal. Zach Robinson played a fine pass when gave Lyall Cameron a chance and the youngster finished well to score his third goal in this cup.
Falkirk came back and they had a few good moves but failed to test Harry Sharp in the Dundee goal. Dundee then lost midfielder Joe Grayson to injury, he was replaced by Jordan McGhee.
Falkirk then put two dangerous crosses into the box but their strikers failed to get a good touch to score, they payed the price when Dundee got the second goal. From Paul McMullan's corner Lee Ashcroft powered home a great header to score a fine goal.
It finished the game as a contest and Dundee added a third when the ball was handled on the line. Up stepped Zach Robinson to score from the penalty spot with ease.
A fine win for Dundee and good to have a clean sheet. Next up is Queens Park at Dens this Saturday.
