Dundee entertained Cowdenbeath at Dens on Tuesday and turned in a very professional performance to win the game 3-0 to give the Dark Blues fans every reason to go home happy.
Straight away the home team attacked and early on Griffiths was unlucky when his header was cleared off the line. Dundee's movement and passing was a joy to watch. But it took to the 37th minute to make the breakthrough when McKeown set Griffiths away his shot was well saved by the Cowdenbeath keeper but Craig Forsyth followed up to blast the ball home high into the net. It was all Dundee now and they should have got a second but Riley shot just wide, and then Griffiths chipped over while in a great position.
Second half and Cowdenbeath changed their formation to 4-4-2 to try and have a go at Dundee. But the home sides tails were up and they attacked the Cowden goal, a second goal had to come and it did when a great Griffith's pass put Nicky Riley clear and he shot home with a low drive. A few minutes later the game all but over when good play from a corner O'Donnell cross for Craig McKeown to head home powerfully to make it 3-0.
After that Barry Smith sent on Jonny Stewart for his home debut and young striker Leighton McIntosh followed soon after. In fact young Leighton had a great chance when clean through but the Cowdenbeath keeper made a fine a handed stop. So that's 3 more points for the Dark Blues may this form continue into 2011.
