Vital Win For Cupar Eagles

Eagles welcomed back inspirational midfielder Malcolm against league newcomers Seven Sisters. Marshall gave an indepth motivational speech prior to kick-off as confidence had reached an all time low with five defeats out of five league games played. Eagles went on the offensive straight away and Halley opened the scoring with a sweet finish into the bottom left hand corner. Eagles were playing free flowing football at this point and the second goal arrived when Malcolm finished of a great move by drilling the ball into the right hand corner after McGregor played him in. Seven Sisters threatened a couple of times but Mullen in goal was equal to the task. Eagles went three up when Syme sent Halley away and the prolific marksman buried his shot into the roof of the net as the ecstatic Eagles support behind the goal started to celebrate. Seven Sisters pulled a goal back before half-time to give themselves a lifeline.
Seven Sisters pushed forward in the second half and scored their second goal to make the match really tight with only one goal in it. Eagles were a bit jittery at this point as a great collaspe looked to be on the cards but after soaking up a lot of pressure Halley scored the crucial fourth after fine work from Marshall and Syme. Seven Sisters reduced the deficit once more but the Eagles held on for their first win of the season amidst jubilant scenes as the final whistle sounded.
