New Head Coach At Dens Park.

Dundee Football Club are today delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Pressley as the club’s new Head Coach.

Steven is a well-known name throughout British football and possesses fantastic knowledge and experience of the game. A thorough and comprehensive search process was conducted for our new Head Coach, and Steven emerged as the standout candidate.  After an extremely successful playing career, Steven moved into coaching.

After a period as a coach with Scotland under George Burley and then as assistant manager at Falkirk, Steven took on his first managerial role in 2010 at Falkirk. Initially, the role was till the end of the season but Steven impressed in the position and remained in charge of The Bairns until 2013. In 2013 he moved to Coventry City, where he oversaw 100 games for The Sky Blues in England’s League One. Between 2015 and 2019 Steven took on managerial positions at Fleetwood Town, PAFOS – in the Cypriot first division – and Carlisle United. Steven has spent the last four years working with English Premier League side Brentford in the role of ‘Head of Individual Player Development.’

As the club previously stated we have taken this period to restructure the football department at the club. One of the changes is the appointment of a Head Coach. Another change is the appointment of a Technical Manager and Dundee FC are delighted to appoint David Longwell to this role.

David will be part of the coaching staff with a specific focus on player development. David has vast experience in player development having worked at St Mirren, Orlando City, New York Red Bulls and Burnley in this area. David was most recently Manager at AFC Fylde.

Managing Director John Nelms said, “We are delighted to welcome Steven Pressley as the new head coach of Dundee Football Club.  Steven has spent the last four years at English Premier League Club Brentford and brings with him a shared core value of player development and a rounded approach to winning football matches.  Steven will be installing a framework that delivers on the messaging that the senior players and the development players are one effective team.  This will bring success to Dundee Football Club on and off the park.  Welcome to the club, Steven, and we are looking forward to many successful campaigns.

“We are also excited to welcome David Longwell as the new Technical Manager of Dundee Football Club.  David comes to us with a long and productive history in the development of players both north and south of the border.   Player development has always been at the forefront of our club, and with the amount of young emerging talent, it is important that the restructuring of the football department will emphasise this even more. His main role will be working alongside Technical Director Gordon Strachan and Head Coach Steven Pressley to ensure the concentrated development of the individual player.  David will also have additional roles within the first team set-up.  Welcome to the club, David, and we are looking forward to many successes in the future.”

Welcome to The Dee Steven and David.
