Dundee started with a young side with three trialists in the line up. Blackburn Rovers also had a young side out with most were Under 23.
Both teams started well and had early chances, Rovers were more dangerous and Harry Sharp had a couple of good saves.
Rovers took the lead when Ashley Phillips headed home on 31 minutes, they looked like scoring for the ten minutes before they did.
Dundee were struggling in midfield a wee bit but the fans were delighted when the ball broke well and Alex Jakubiak turned well and smashed the ball home for a fine goal.
Dundee made four changes at half time. Ian Lawlor, Ryan Sweeney, Paul McGowan and Luke McCowan came on for Harry Sharp, Tyler French, Max Anderson and Josh Mulligan.
Ian Lawlor had a few saves to make the best was when he tipped a shot on to the bar. Dundee also hit the bar when Paul McMullen curled a shot.
Cammy Kerr and Jordan Marshall, were replaced by Lyall Cameron and Luke Strachan for the last 13 minutes. Sam Fisher was therefore the only Dee to play the full 90 minutes.
Dundee came close to a winner when McGinn's shot was well saved but the referee gave a corner. The game ended 1-1 and it turned out to be a good work out for the players.
