Dundee United 0, Dundee 2, Tannadice, William Hill Premiership, 22nd August 2026

Dundee made only one change from last week’s starting eleven. Alan Forrest came in on the left wing to replace the injured Simon Murray, with Charlie Reilly moving infield to the number 10 role and Joe Westley shifted forward to play as the lead striker. New loan signings Bobby Wales and Bradley Fink were on the bench where they were joined by Callum Jones on his return from injury.

In the first 15 minutes Dundee had to defend well and keep their shape as United started slightly better. But after this they got passing movements going and Reilly, Westley had good efforts at goal.

The first half seemed to go fast but Dundee took the lead on 43 minutes. United broke out on attack but gave the ball away. 

Which Drey Wright picked up and came forward wuth pace, he set himself up and fired in a unstoppable drive into the bottom corner for a tremendous goal. The fans went wild with delight. 

Likely Drey will never hit a ball so well in his career. But it gave Dundee the edge before half time whistle went.

At half time Fin Robertson replaced Charlie Reilly to stiffen up the midfield. Dundee United were always likely to come back strongly, and they attacked with greater purpose in the opening five minutes of the second half. Yoro turned smartly in the penalty area to shoot but Goodman saved with his feet.

Dundee settled and it was 2-0 on 57 minutes, a corner from Robertson was headed back by Astley it fell for Alan Forrest to shoot which  flew off the inside of Owen Bevan’s heel and settled nicely in the corner of the net.

A vital second goal which set up Dundee to win the game. Bradley Fink came on for his debut, replacing Joe Bevan after 68 minutes. Within a minute Fink was involved in an attack that came desperately close to a killer third goal 11 minutes later. Forrest crossed from the left. Fink and Westley challenged and the ball broke to Hamilton whose shot was cleared off the line.

After this Bobby Wales also came on to make his debut coming on for Alan Forrest. Dundee kept calm andwere not troubled by United which was good to see. 

It adds to our points gained already, and sets up Dundee for the next two games at home against Hibernian on Sunday, and St Johnstone on the Wedesday night.

Dundee Sign Striker On Loan

On the day of the Dundee Derby clash have signed striker Bradley Fink, on loan from Wycombe Wanderers.

After he spending three years as an academy player at Borussia Dortmund and making his professional debut for Borussia Dortmund II, striker Fink joined FC Basel on a four-year deal in 2022.

A loan to Grasshopper Club Zurich followed for the 23-year-old, before he joined Wycombe Wanderers in 2025.

Dundee have signed Bobby Wales on loan from Swansea City on loan for this season. After a loan spell at Alloa Athletic, the forward made 30 appearances for Kilmarnock in the 2024/25 season, and earned himself a four-year contract at Swansea.

Wales is an age-grade Scotland international, winning caps at U17, U18, U19 and U21 level. 

Aberdeen 3, Dundee 0, Pittodrie Stadium, League Cup Round of 16, 15th August 2026

Dundee started with the same team as last week.The only change on the bench was Ashton Leiper replacing the injured Ashley Hay. They started the game well and played sone fine one touch football.

Aberdeen themselves hit on the break but Dundee's defence looked solid and coped what the dons had to offer.

Goodman did well to block Toyosi Olusanya’s close range shot from a tight angle after the wide player burst clear on the left.

Charlie Reilly’s long pass sent Simon Murray clear but, under pressure from the chasing defenders, he stumbled and lost control as he ran into the penalty area. That was Murray’s last involvement in the game. A minute later he landed awkwardly and looked to have damaged his knee. After lengthy treatment he was carried off on a stretcher. Fin Robertson replaced him and took up the number 10 role with Joe Westley playing as the striker.

Joe bevan went down with a knock but was able to continue after treatment. As the first half came to a close both teams had chances to score. 

Dundee passed up two good chances, either of which would have changed the game if they had been taken. Bevan ran clear onto a long ball over the top but Marius Müller made a fine save and then Westley headed narrowely wide from a cross by Robertson. Aberdeen had a spell of frantic pressure in which Goodman had to make a fine save from a ferocious shot by Aremu from 22 yards.

Second half and for the first 20 minutes of the half they struggled to play like they did in the first half. Aberdeen scored twice to take full control of the game. 

Aberdeen scored to make it 3-0 and the game was over. Alan Forrest and Zan Besir came on for Joe Bevan and Charlie Reilly midway through the half.

Ryan Finnigan’s 20 yard shot was well saved by Müller and Ethan Hamilton fired narrowly over the bar after Aberdeen couldn’t clear a corner. That was as much as Dundee could offer in attack.

At least they kept the heads up and attacked until the end. Disappointed to go out at this stage of the cup.

Dundee 2, Aberdeen 0, Dens Park, William Hill Premiership, 08-August-26

Dundee were unchanged following their narrow defeat at Celtic Park on Monday night. 

Abedeen had the ball for the first few minutes, but after that Dundee took control in an attacking sence they were great. Joe Bevan broke clear but his shot was wide of the post. 

In the ninth minute Dundee took the lead with a goal of classy simplicity. Charlie Reilly carried the ball across from the left and his pass gave Joe Bevan the chance to run at his full back on the right. Instead Bevan checked back and flighted a perfect cross with his left foot for Joe Westley to run in and score with a precise glancing volley inside the far post.

Dundee had three efforts on goal and really should have been 2-0 up. Dons keeper pulled off a good save from Bevan, Murray missed one and Reilly had a shot just over the bar.

Aberdeen hit the bar from a header, but a minute late Bevan got to the byeline but his cross shot went wide, maybe should have set up Westley with a simple tap in. 

Second half and Dundee continued to be on top. Reilly put in a good deep cross that Drey Wright met on the volley beyond the far post, but a desperate defensive block turned the ball out for a corner.

Finally, in the 56th minute Dundee scored the second goal they richly deserved to give themselves a cushion. Reilly chipped over a cross from the left. It flicked off Lewis Mayo’s head into the path of Joe Bevan, who took a touch before rifling a left foot shot past Müller from 15 yards. It was a beautiful finish.

Fin Robertson and Ash Hay came on for Charlie Reilly and Simon Murray, who had both made hugely important contributions. The changes helped Dundee to keep playing the high tempo game that was winning the game for the Dee.

After this Aberdeen hit the bar again, but Dundee should have at least twice with Muller saving well from Hay and Bevan.

Alan Forrest came on for Joe Bevan and the substitutes’ fresh legs set up two dangerous Dee breaks, one of which should have brought the third goal. Robertson sent over a perfect cross for Hay, whose header was too close to Müller who saved well. The next break ground to a halt when Forrest couldn’t find a team mate with the final ball.

Dundee seen the time out and deserved the win today. The defence were solid and it was good to see this happening early weeks into the season.

Next week is a rematch betwwen the clubs at Pittodrie in the last 16 in the League Cup.

Celtic 1, Dundee 0, Parkhead, William Hill Premiership, 03-August-26

Dundee made  four changes from the eleven who started the win against Clyde. Owen Goodman made his debut in goal, replacing Kieran O’Hara. Owen Bevan, Idris Odutayo and Joe Westley came in for Aaron Donnelly, Brad Halliday and Zan Besir.

Dundee started well and kept Celtic at bay, Dundee's first real chance came in 13 minutes when a long Astley's throw in found Murray who set up Charlie Reilly but his shot from 12 yards just went wide of the post.

The home supporters were getting frustrated by Celtic’s slow build-ups and the lack of penetration from their wide areas. From a Dee perspective full backs Drey Wright and Idris Odutayo deserve credit for the way they handled their direct opponents.

The last chance of the half fell to Celtic, but Owen Goodman made a great save to deny Tierney. 

Not much happened at the start of the second half. but Celtic took the lead on 52 minutes with a well worked goal ,Nygren headed home with a free header 8 yards out. 

Dundee kept at it and attacked Celtic when they could. The home team struggled to trouble Dundee and Goodman only had a couple of real saves to make.

After 80 minutes Alan Forrest and Brad Halliday replaced Joe Bevan and Drey Wright.

In one Dundee mone Ash Hay was really unlucky with a header which was well saved by the Celtic keeper.Soon after Ethan Hamilton put a good effort over the bar,  McGregor hit the post late on but the game ended 1-0 to Celtic.

Dundee played well enough and they went forward and maybe on another day they would have got a draw.
