Someone at work did not believe that Jimmy Johnstone played for Dundee in the mid late 1970's. I knew that he had a brief spell at Dundee when Tommy Gemmell was Manager.
Jimmy only played one full game against Airdrie at Dens opening game of 1977-78 season. The following week he was substituted later at Tynecastle, and himself a sub in the third league game against Stirling Albion.
Jimmy was at dens for two months but failed to settle at the club, he left by mutual agreement.

James McPake has been named new manager of Dundee Football Club, Jimmy Nicholl has been brought in as his No 2.I'm happy enough with the appointment and now the hard work starts for James and his background staff.
It will be a tough season for the club next season, as we need to build a side capable of winning games. Not always playing great football, sometimes you need just to grind out results. We also need to make Dens Park a fortress for the coming season.
