Kane Hemmings Leaves Dens Park...

Dundee striker Kane Hemmings has joined Oxford United on a three year deal, a clause in his deal was met by the English club rumoured to be £250,000. Kane done well at Dens last season and it would have been very hard to keep him. At least he won't play against the Dark Blues this season.

A few Dundee fans are not happy with deal ect, myself the fee could have been higher but with the clause it was hard to see someone going above it.

Players come and go from Dens Park it's part and parcel of supporting DFC maybe one day we will get top dollar when we sell someone.

All the best to Kane at his new club hope he does well.

Dundee look certain to crash out of the Betfred Cup after a poor performance against Peterhead. Going by reports not much happened in the first 20 minutes of note. Dundee had plenty of the play but failed to add the killer touch. Peterhead took the lead when McAllister scored from 25 yards out with the ball going under the Dundee wall.

With two mins to go McAllister broke into the box he went over Bain and the Dundee goalie was booked and McAllister scored from the spot. Dundee striker Greg Steawrt pulled one back with a clever finish to give the dark blues hope. But Peterhead held out to take all three points.

Dundee 6, Dumbarton 2, Dens Park, Betfred League Cup, 23-July-16

In a must win game for the Dark Blues they struggled badly in the first 45 minutes with a lot of passing but not forward enough for my liking. They did have efforts on goal but too easy for the Sons goalie to save. Dundee did score first when Greg Stewart curled in a beauty from the edge of the box after Cammy Kerr was tripped.

But more sloppy play followed and they let Dumbarton back level with a very poor goal to lose. The ball was bouncing in the six yard box and somehow crossed the line for Wright to claim the goal, worse was to follow and another mix up in the Dundee defence and Buchanan scored after a effort was knocking onto the ball off the line by Kerr. That was it at half-time with the Dark Blues booed off.

Second half and Dundee started brightly and inside two minutes were level when Kane Hemming was played in by Loy's pass and he smashed the ball home. All of a sudden and Dundee looked good going forward and even more so when O'Hara came on for Vincent. It was no surprise when Darren O'Dea scored the third with a great header. Soon after it was 4-2 when Greg Stewart got his second with a cool finish inside the box. Soon after it was 5-2 again Stewart netting with easy after good play from Holt. Yordi Teijsse replaced Rory Loy and set up goal number six with a delightful flick that released Kane Hemmings and he made no mistake.

Dundee seen out the rest of the game with Dumbarton players looked shell shocked at the end. No wonder because most Dundee fans never seen that final score line at half-time.

East Fife 1, Dundee 1, ( EF Won 4-2 on Penalties) New Bayview, Betfred League Cup, 16-July-16

Dundee started their with a 1-1 draw with East Fife, Kane Hemming scored with a good volley after 36 minutes to put Dundee in control. Second half and East Fife came more into it and levelled with 13 minutes to go when Kevin Smith curled home a free kick.

Extra time failed to split the sides and East Fife won on Penalty kicks 4-2, Loy and Vincent missing for the Dark Blues. A poor start for Dundee and likely due to a poor second half performance. I missed the game due to work and will be at Dens next week for the Dumbarton game.

Dundee: Mitchell, Kerr, Etxabeguren, O'Dea (c), Holt, O'Hara, Ross, Williams, Duffy (Vincent 65), Wighton (Loy 73), Hemmings. Unused Subs: Gourlay (gk), Teijsse, Black.
