Kilmarnock 2 Dundee 1, Rugby Park, Scottish Cup 4th Rd Replay , 17/January/12

Dundee lost 2-1 at Rugby Park on Tuesday night in the replay of the Scottish Cup tie. They started with the same team again which started the last two games. Nicky Riley was ruled out on Friday was the only player out.

The first half got off to a good start with Dundee knocking the ball about nicely and could have taken the lead when Savo Milne should have done better missing from about 8 yards out, but it would not have counted as he was ruled offside. As Killie struggled to get their passing game going it was route one when they scored the first goal. A long ball was knocked on by Gary Harkins and Heffernan took a good touch to score with a well placed shot. It was a bit hard on Dundee who looked more likely to score in the first 20 minutes, but it got tougher on 43 minutes. Gavin Rae was set to pass when he was tackled from behind the ball fell kindly for Harkins who fed in Shiels to score with a high shot past Douglas.

Second half started with no team changes for Dundee, and they took the game to Killie straight away, but the Killie keeper had little to save. But on 62 minutes they pulled a goal back when a great pass found the forward running Irvine who's cross was headed home powerfully by the on rushing Gavin Rae to give Dundee a lifeline. They kept pushing forward but did not have a clear cut chance apart from Milne being put through but his shot was easy for Bell to save. Graham Bayne came on for Ross Chisholm to try and find that vital goal, but time ran out and Kilmarnock will face Hibernian in the next round.

I can't fault the players over the two games they gave everything they had. It will let us concentrate on the league now, and first we face a trip to Firhill on Saturday.

Dundee: Douglas, Irvine, McGregor, McKeown, Lockwood, McCluskey, Chisholm (Bayne 82), O'Donnell, Conroy, Rae, Milne. Unused Subs: Gibson, Weston, Benedictus, Hyde.

Killie Preview

Dundee head for Rugby Park tonight to face SPL club Kilmarnock in the replay of the Scottish Cup 4th Round after the teams drew 1-1 just over a week ago. Team wise Nicky Riley has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, otherwise everyone else is fit.

Dundee should have a big support tonight so let's back the team and roar them onto victory and the reward is a away trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian on the 4th of February.

Dundee 3 Livingston 0, Dens Park, First Division, 14/January/12

Dundee kept up their recent good form in the league going with a well earned 3-0 win over Livingston at Dens park on Saturday. They did not start greatly but as the game progressed their was only going to be one winner. Team wise Nicky Riley was on the bench along with Rhys Weston. So it was the same team as last week.

Dundee took until the 18th minute to open the scoring when after a good move was ended when Rae found Ryan Conroy with a neat pass and the winger got the angle right and shot home with a superb finished. This set the tone of the game and only a couple of good saves from Livi keeper McNeil kept the eager Dundee attack out.

Second half and Dundee attacked from the start and Livi looked dangerous on the break and Rab Douglas made a great save from a Fox lob, and soon after Deuchar should have scored but put his effort well over the bar to Dundee's relief. Dundee put Hyde and Riley on for Milne and McCluskey.

It paid off soon after when a Riley cross was headed on by McKeown for Neil McGregor  to chest home his first goal for the club. Soon after and it was 3-0 and game over a O'Donnell corner was headed home by Nicky Riley to seal the game and three points.

Another good team performance with everyone playing well for each other, the only down point was sub Nicky Riley having to go off, he will miss the cup replay at Kilmarnock on Tuesday.

Dundee: Douglas,Irvine, McGregor, McKeown, Lockwood, McCluskey( Riley 69, (Bayne 87), Chisholm, O'Donnell, Conroy, Rae, Milne (Hyde 69). Subs Not Used: Gibson, Weston.

Dundee 1 Kilmarnock 1, Dens Park, Scottish Cup 4th Rd, 07/January/12

Dundee just about knocked out SPL side Kilmarnock in the 4th Rd of the Scottish Cup, in fact they should have after missing a second half penalty. Dundee started with a five man midfield with Savo Milne the lone striker. Jake Hyde dropped to the bench.

Dundee started very well and attacked the Killie goal straight away, but the closest they came was long range chip effort from Ross Chisholm. On 15 minutes good play sent Savo Milne clear and he knocked the ball under Bell to give Dundee the lead, both Linesman and Ref seemed to give the goal. The Killie players went to the linesman to complain and soon after the Ref ruled it was offside, to the fury of the Dundee fans. Soon after Gavin Rae had a shot which was close but went just over the ball. Against the run of play Kilmarnock opened the scoring when Pascali scored with a header, a poor goal for Dundee to lose. Dundee kept their work rate up and went in at half-time 1 nil down.

Second half was only 21 seconds old when Dundee levelled the cup-tie when good work from Rae set up Conroy who's pinpoint cross was finished by Savo Milne to send the Dundee fans wild with delight. Then Killie had their best spell in the game and Douglas pulled off a tremendous save from Hay's shot. But back came Dundee and great wing play from McCluskey set up Conroy who pushed in the back the ref pointed to the spot to give us a great chance to go ahead. Up stepped Matt Lockwood but sadly is was a poor effort and was easy saved for the Killie keeper. Dundee kept up the pressure and they sent on Hyde for McCluskey. Then after another great move Milne was one to one with Bell but the keeper saved well, it was then knocked back into the box Ryan Conroy's placed header was brilliantly saved by Bell.

Both teams played until the end no more goals so it's a replay on the 17th of January at Rugby Park. I thought the whole team played well today. So well done lads..

Dundee: Douglas, Irvine, McGregor, McKeown, Lockwood, McCluskey (Hyde 74), Chisholm, O'Donnell, Conroy, Rae, Milne. Unused subs; Gibson, Bayne, Benedictus, McIntosh.

It will be £15 for Adults and £8 for Concessions,U16 and Students Fans are reminded to turn up early for the 12:30 Kick Off.

Dundee will find out soon if midfielder Gavin Rae will extend his stay at the club until the end of the season. Hopefully that will be the case as he has played well in the last two months.

Raith Rovers 0 Dundee 1, Starks Park, First Division, 02/January/12

Dundee got back on track with a well deserve win at windy Starks Park on Monday. It was the same line up as last week except Craig McKeown came in for the injured Rhys Weston.

Dundee started brightly and took the game to the Rovers but the game settled down to a midfield battle and chances were pretty thin on the ground. But at least Dundee took control of things and just before the winning goal. Jake Hyde headed  just wide, but the winner did come on 37 minutes when good play from Rae released Nicky Riley who's good early cross was met by Jake Hyde who scored with a superb header. It was what Dundee deserved and set up the second half nicely.

The windy conditions did not help the fare in the second half but Dundee made most of the chances but found the Rovers keeper in good form. He made 2 great saves from Conroy and somehow kept a late Bayne header out which looked netbound.
The only down point was a wee injury to Nicky Riley but hopefully he will be fit for the Scottish Cup tie v Kilmarnock on Saturday. Again another great three points and will put a wee bit of pressure on leaders Ross County who's game was off.

Dundee; Douglas, Irvine, McGregor, McKeown, Lockwood, Riley (McCluskey 88), Chisholm, Rae, Conroy
Hyde (Bayne 65), Milne. Unused Subs: Gibson, Benedictus, McIntosh.

Latest News From Dens...

Dundee head for Stark's Park on Monday for a league game. Rhys Weston is a injury doubt but hopefully he will be fit. Stephen O'Donnell is suspended still, and I see that Ex Dee striker Pat Clarke has signed a loan deal with the Rovers.

Ex Dundee midfield Gary Harkins will miss the Scottish Cup tie next Saturday after breaking his ankle, the game will be shown live on BBC 1Scotland with a 12:15 kick-off. I wish Gary a speedy recovery.
