Striker Signs Pre-Contract

Dundee have signed Rory Loy on a Pre-Contract deal, the Falkirk striker has agreed a three year deal, a very good signing for the club. The 26 year old has scored 32 goals in his spell at Falkirk and will join the Dundee squad in the summer.

Motherwell 0, Dundee 1, Fir Park, SPFL Premiership, 21st February 2015

Dundee produced a fine professional performance on Saturday beating struggling Motherwell 1-0 at Fir Park, as expected Kevin Thomson came back into the side along side Willie Dyer and Greg Stewart. It was a positive Dundee that started the game knocking the ball quickly and working hard in all area's.

Dundee got the early goal on 12 minutes after some neat play from McGinn and Harris put Paul McGinn out wide and his cross/shot sailed over the Motherwell keeper George Long and into the net to give the visitors a vital lead. Dundee kept pushing forward and Long had to make saves from Stewart and Harris, also McGowan was unlucky with a well hit shot which just missed the goal.

Motherwell did have some shots as well but they were either wide or well blocked from the Dundee defence which looked very solid.

Second half was much the same vein with Dundee looking dangerous on the break, a Harris run and cross just needed a touch as the ball went across the six yard box. The home side lacked the fight they have been known to have over the years and look like a side that may go down.

As the clock ran down Hartley replaced McGowan and Stewart with Harkins and Clarkson who the well fans gave warm applause when he came on.

So another three points for Dundee who looked solid and they could have scored a few more goals.

George, Calum, Myself and Paul
It was also good to catch up with Motherwell fans George, Paul and Calum who I have known for a long time since meeting in Dundee in 1981 onwards. They are pretty convinced that their team are going down. I hope that is not the case but time will tell.

Dundee 1, Partick Thistle 0, Dens Park, SPFL Premiership, 14-February-15

Dundee Manager Paul Hartley made four changes from the team that lost to Celtic last week. Paul Heffernan came in for his debut and Alex Harris returned; both players were cup tied last week. Thomas Konrad and Paul McGinn also came into the starting line-up. Willie Dyer, Craig Wighton and David Clarkson dropped onto the bench and Greg Stewart was suspended.

Partick started the better and could have scored in the opening minute but luckily for the dark blues Taylor put it wide from close range. Dundee might have scored a great through ball put McAlister clear but Scott Fox made a good save at the midfielders feet. Thistle had a few chance but they fell to their centre half and he was unable to get the ball on target. Dundee might have scored twice before the break first Alex Harris forced Fox into making a fine one handed save. Then a McPake header was cleared off the line.

Second half and Dundee made two changes with Gary Harkins on for Kosta Gadzhalov, and Willie Dyer replacing the injured Gary Irvine. That helped Dundee play a bit better and Harkins was making good passes and it helped Harris to get more into the game. With 20 minutes to go Craig Wighton replaced Paul Heffernan and as the game looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw. Dundee grabbed a injury time winner, good defending from Konrad his pass into midfield set free Harkins who played a delightful one-two with Wighton he calmly side stepped a tackle and played a great pass along the six yard box to Paul McGowan to side foot home the winner to send Dens wild he ran towards the Derry which went mental. Thistle went up the park and got a corner but the Dundee defence cleared as the Referee blew his whistle.

Not a great game and Partick Th will feel hard done by. But it's three massive points for Dundee which puts them into the Top Six.

Dundee: Bain, Paul McGinn, McPake, Konrad, Irvine (Dyer HT), Stephen McGinn, Gadzhalov (Harkins HT), Harris, McGowan, McAlister, Heffernan (Wighton 69). Unused Subs: Letheren (gk), Clarkson, McBride, Black.

News From Dens Park...

Greg Stewart has been awarded the SPFL Player of the Month for January. The young striker has been in great form in the first month of the year. He has scored 5 goals in 7 games. What has impressed me is the range of goals he has scored. Well done Greg

Welcomed Cheer Up After The Cup Exit

It was great to get to hold the Championship Trophy and made me a very proud Dad when my Son Andrew who is only two and half years old was pictured with the famous Trophy. Many Thanks to the #lovedundee campaign and Dundee FC to allow this opportunity for me and fellow fans of Dundee FC.

January Catch Up

Dundee 4, Motherwell 1, Dens Park, SPFL Premiership, 10-January-15

Dundee beat Motherwell 4-1 at Dens on the 11th of January, they got off to a dream start when Alex Harris scored in the first minute, then Greg Stewart scored soon after to put the dark blues in control. The men from Fir Park pulled one back when John Sutton scored. Dundee were still well on top and Gary Irvine scored to make it 3-1 after the Well keeper dropped a cross. It took Dundee a while to get the fourth and final goal, but it came when O'Brien put through his own goal to complete a good day for the dark blues.

Dundee: Bain, McGinn, Gadzhalov, Davidson, Irvine (Dyer 53), Thomson (Harkins 53), McGowan, Harris, McAlister (Tankulic 53), Stewart, Clarkson. Unused Subs: Schenk (gk), Konrad, Roberts, Carreiro.

Aberdeen 3, Dundee 3, Pittodrie, SPFL Premiership, 17-January-15

A week later Dundee travelled up north to take on high flying Aberdeen, they got off to a poor start when the dons took a early lead when Goodwillie scored from close range. Dundee battled away to stay in the game and got their reward when they scored twice in two minutes first Gary Irvine lashed the ball home after a great run into the box from the defender. Then a great 18 pass move ended when Greg Stewart scored after a superb Tankulic back heeler played the on form striker to put the dark blues 2-1 at the end of the first half. Second half and Gary Harkins put Dundee 3-1 up scoring with a great shot from just inside the box to send the dark blue fans wild. But sadly Aberdeen got a late penalty and in injury time they snatched a draw to make the final score 3-3.

Dundee: Bain, McGinn, Gadzhalov (Konrad 87), Davidson, Irvine, Thomson (Dyer 91), McAlister
Harris, Harkins, Stewart, Tankulic (Ferry 74). Unused subs: Schenk (gk), Carreiro, Roberts, Black

Dundee 1, Kilmarnock 0, Dens Park, SPFL Premiership, 21-January-15

Dundee claimed another vital three points in what was a pretty poor game they got the vital winner from the penalty spot after McAlister was fouled. On form striker Greg Stewart scored from the spot sending Killie keeper Samson the wrong way.

Dundee: Bain, Irvine, McPake (Gadzhalov 73), Davidson, Dyer, McGowan, McAlister, Harris, Harkins (Clarkson 62), Stewart, Tankulic (Wighton 79). Unused subs: Schenk (gk), Konrad, Ferry, Thomson

St Mirren 1, Dundee 2, New Love St, SPFL Premiership, 24-January-15

Dundee came from behind to claim three very welcome points against struggling St Mirren who are in a dog fight at the bottom. The home side scored first when McLean fired home from 20 yards just before half time. Dundee kept battling away and levelled when Gary Irvine scored with a simple tap in after good ply from Stewart. Then with 20 minutes to go Iain Davidson scored what proved to be the winner when his shot took a slight deflection to beat the goalkeeper to send the away support wild with delight. The only down point from the game was the injuries to Gary Harkins and Iain Davidson who looked to have taken a nasty on to his ankle.

Dundee: Bain, Irvine, McPake, Gadzhalov (Tankulic 84), Dyer, Thomson, Davidson (Konrad 91)
McGowan, Harkins (Harris 64), McAlister, Stewart. Unused Subs: Letheren (gk), Ferry, Clarkson, Wighton.

Dundee 1, Hamilton 1, Dens Park, SPFL Premiership, 31-January-15

New signing Stephen McGinn was on the bench as Clarkson and Harris came in for injured pair Davidson and Harkins. The Accies were the better team in the first half with Dundee having to thank keeper Scott Bain for still to be level at half time. The young keeper made some great stops the first one so vital when he touched the ball onto the post when a certain goal looked. Second half and Accies still pressed forward and they got their reward when Canning headed home with just five minutes to go. But Dundee had Greg Stewart to thank for gaining a point when he curled home a beauty, what a find this young striker has been.

Dundee: Bain, Irvine, McPake, Gadzhalov, Dyer, McGowan, Thomson (Stephen McGinn HT)
Harris (Wighton 69), McAlister, Stewart, Clarkson (Tankulic HT). Unused Subs: Letheren (gk), Konrad, Black, Carreiro.
